1. Orange Sizing & Cardboard Packaging
Export oranges are graded by size (counts like 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88 per carton) and packed in 15 kg telescopic cardboard boxes. These boxes must be stacked in interlocking patterns on clean, heat-treated wooden pallets to prevent slippage.
2. Reefer Container Stuffing Guidelines
A 40ft Reefer container typically accommodates 20 standard pallets (100x120 cm). Pallets must be loaded leaving air gaps to ensure the refrigerated air flows through the boxes, maintaining a constant cold chain (typically 2-4°C depending on orange type) to prevent spoilage.
3. Agricultural Quarantine & ISPM-15
Customs regulations require all agricultural wooden packaging to be officially certified under ISPM-15. Used or unstamped pallets risk immediate rejection, which can destroy the perishable harvest.
